The Blackpool Tower

Sightseeing attraction | Blackpool | England | United Kingdom

The Blackpool Tower is one of the most famous landmarks in Blackpool and a prominent example of Victorian architecture in Britain. The structure was opened in 1894 and bears a strong resemblance to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, which is not surprising as it is also made of iron and has a similar shape. Standing at 158 meters tall, the tower dominates the skyline of Blackpool and offers breathtaking views of the coastline and surrounding countryside.

The building houses a variety of attractions that appeal to families and tourists of all ages. One of the most well-known attractions is the "Tower Eye", an observation deck at a great height that provides spectacular views through glass windows. For those seeking even more thrills, there is the "Glass Floor", allowing visitors to stand on a glass floor and look down, providing a unique experience.

Below the observation deck is the "Tower Ballroom", renowned worldwide for its elegant style and long history. Regularly hosting dance events, concerts, and other cultural activities, the ballroom has a legendary atmosphere enhanced by its opulent decor and magnificent chandelier.

Additionally, the Blackpool Tower is home to "The Tower Circus", one of the oldest circus arenas in the UK. Combining traditional circus elements with modern performances, the shows offer fun for the whole family.

Another key feature of the tower is "Jungle Jim's", an indoor play area for children offering a wide range of activities and popular among families.

However, the Blackpool Tower is not just a landmark, but also a cultural hub that attracts thousands of tourists year after year. Its variety of attractions make it an ideal destination for a full day of entertainment and exploration. It is a place that combines historical significance with modern leisure opportunities, creating an unforgettable experience for all visitors.

We all, Grandad (that's me), Grandma, our daughter, son-in-law, grandson and granddaughter, went to see the afternoon Tower Circus performance. Annnnd words to describe this amazing spectacle, are going to fall short of doing total justice, I'm sure. Suffice is to say, that in my 71 + years on this mortal coil, this is the most spectacular, visually stunning performance I have ever seen. Top class. Thank you all very much. The ticket price was a paltry £12 for adults, concessions for us old fogeys, £9 for grandson, and free for our 2 year old granddaughter. Unbelievable value, do not miss this spectacle my friends. 😀👍👏

Blackpool was dire, full of crack heads, benefit cheats, and drunk people with no shirts on in the middle of winter. The tower was lit with L.E.D's in bright red and stuck out like an absolute eye-sore. If I could give negative numbers I would, I didn't even stay, I drove straight back home again!! What. A.
